OCT
What we specilise in at Hughes Opticians

OCT (Ocular Coherence Tomography) is an advanced eye scanning method used to identify underlying eye conditions as well as other potential health problems. The scan is non-invasive and uses light to ‘see beneath’ the surface of the eye at all the different layers.
A digital photograph is taken of the surface of the eye, which can be examined to look for any areas of concern. A three-dimensional image will also be taken to look behind the surface of the eye; this can be cross-referenced with the photograph to pinpoint the exact locations of a possible eye condition. This enables your optometrist to assess your eyes in more detail than ever before and in some cases, can prevent certain eye conditions from developing in their tracks.
